Dreams: Real or Unreal?

Has anyone ever been able to really understand the way how dreams work? Is it just our imagination or does it have anything to do with the future as some people seem to believe? This is one of the most intriguing mysteries second to only the ever evasive full understanding of human emotions and human psychology as well. Now as we know dreams are classified into good dreams and nightmares or bad dreams. There is also a popular belief that what you dream during daybreak can come true. It is said that the thoughts lingering in our subconscious mind often tend to be the main subjects of our dreams. The other alternative maybe happens when we think too much about something before we fall asleep.
Dreams do tend to have a strange amount of mind control about us. Sometimes we feel that we are able to recall a particular dream perfectly even though hours have passed since we woke up. Otherwise we tend to forget the dream the moment we wake up: its existence seems valid only when the dream goes on. So what really does happen when we dream inside our mind? Do we simply let our imagination take control as in some dreams which seem weird to us or do we actually manage to reach a higher level of consciousness in that mental state? Is there a world of dreams which is accessible only when the mind is at an extremely relaxed state such as sleep? I wonder when we will unlock these unexplained mysteries. Some people might have already discovered these in the world and might only be unfortunate to lack what society demands called "proof". Well I guess someday we will truly be able to unlock the secrets of the human mind and its unpredictable emotions. Ahh well its well past my bedtime here. So Goodnight for now and sweet dreams! ^_^
